Seasonal inspiration is behind everything we do here at Sun & Moon. It’s the foundation of every collection, and something I personally always find joy in. I’ve always appreciated the flow of the seasons, nature’s way of welcoming a new one in, while gently escorting another out.
As I started to focus on really growing Sun & Moon into a full-fledged business, and was working on coming up with a set of core values, I knew right away that seasonality would be one of them. Among the others are sustainability, simplicity, and no skimping. These four things are what drive every decision, collection, and scent that we develop.
So today I wanted to start a new blog series where we dive a little deeper into each of these values. Starting with, of course, seasonality.

Seasonal Inspiration – The Journey Through the Seasons
Much like how the Japanese approach cuisine, I like to curate each collection with the journey through the season in mind. Not just the movement from one season to the next, but the transitions throughout the season itself.
The Japanese prize cuisine that demonstrates awareness of the season in this way – where a meal would include the last of the previous season, the height of the current season, and the first of the coming season. It’s a way to honor nature and what’s been, what is, and what is to come.
These three things also conjure the flow of time: the past, the present, and the future. In every current moment, there is the present moment of course, but also lingering memories from the past, as well as thoughts and expectations of the future.
The Seasonal Journey & Flow of Time
To me, self-care can really be defined by taking a minute to connect with the present moment, and the best way I’ve found to do that is to tap into our senses – what we feel, hear, smell, see around us. My intention is that each product we create gives you the opportunity for a moment of mindfulness and presence. The scent and feel of an oil or lotion bar, the crackling of a candle, the visual connection to the botanicals and patterns of the season.
That’s why, at Sun & Moon, the scents and botanicals are selected in this same way to honor the past, present, and future of the current season. As are the look and feel of the products, the packaging, and all of the other little details.
Each collection is built around these three phases– transitioning from what is perfectly in season, and transitioning from the current season into the next.

Our Seasonal Inspiration for this Spring!
For instance, for the Spring 2025 collection, the Grapefruit & Ginger scent represents early spring, with the crisp, clean, and simplicity of winter thawing and spring beginning. Its purifying energy and naturally odor-neutralizing qualities are like an early spring cleaning.

Spring Woods reflects the height of spring with its earthiness and nourishing rains. It’s evocative of a stroll through a damp forest, adorned with fern and other forest floor fonds.

Then finally Jasmine & Sandalwood evokes vibrant blooms and signals the ebullience of summer to come. It’s evocative of a garden bursting into full, splendid bloom.

I hope this post has given you some inspiration for the coming season, and something to inspire you to find your own style of connection. It’s so much more than just candles and body care products here at Sun & Moon. Stay tuned for the next post in this series for more on that! 🙂
